Hi Everybody!
We are now only 2 days away from the Great Beater Challenge 2025, supported by the Calgary Sports Car Club! I hope everybody’s car is finally running at least to some extent, and we will see you at the start line in a couple of days!
We have put a lot of thought into planning the GBC route this year, with TONS of checkpoints to find, and a lot of great Alberta scenery. We hope you will all enjoy the ride!
Our annual “World’s worst car show” and team check in will be at the Calgary Sports Car Clubhouse at 4215 80 Ave NE, Calgary, AB. Registration will open at 8am for our teams. We hope to have our judging done quickly and efficiently, hold a quick drivers meeting around 9:30am, and have everyone on the road by 10am
Turning left directly into the parking lot when approaching from Metis trail is not possible, so you must either make a safe U-turn or approach from 36st then turn right into the parking lot. You are welcome to park anywhere in the lot, including in the area by RC gears at the south end, but please leave room for other teams to park and get through.
When you and your team check in on Saturday morning, EVERYONE on your team needs to have signed the electronic waiver. We will have a QR code for the waiver at the check-in desk so people can easily pull up and sign, but if you can sign the waiver in advance it would save a lot of hassle for everyone during the morning.
Link to waiver is here: https://calgarysportscc.speedwaiver.com/zxukw
We also require teams to submit a vehicle self-tech form, which can be downloaded here:

Much like last year, the roads we will be taking are well serviced, and mostly paved. There will be a short 10km section of Gravel on Day 2
Remember to bring everything you would normally bring on a road trip (snacks, phone chargers, etc), and also a good amount of water… It is also a very good idea to bring fire extinguishers, warning triangles, and of course all the spare parts, fluids, and tools your beater may ever need.
For the overnight camping, we will be staying at Arm Lake Recreational Area, in group site E. Cost for camping will be $15/car, payable on site, and there will be a buffet breakfast at $14/person available starting at 8am on Sunday. There is currently no fire ban in effect, which is certainly welcome as the evenings get cooler at this time of year. The route takes you through Wainwright, which is about 20 mins before the campsite. Make sure you grab whatever you need from there before heading to camp for the night.
I wish everyone all the best, and look forward to seeing you in a couple days!
